Wilkins Photo - an update

Yesterday while discussing the Wilkins assassination I posted a picture I'd found that showed someone who looked a little like Mayor Wilkins at a historically important event. On taking a closer look I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that it's a fake; the lighting doesn't look quite right, and I've found what appears to be the original picture on line.

The interesting thing about this is that I found the fake while looking at various Sunnydale conspiracy web sites yesterday, but it has vanished today. I'm not 100% sure where I found it, and although I've gone back to every site in my browser history it isn't there. It's fortunate that I copied it, added the circle, and posted it to my own archive, rather than simply linking to it - but the down-side of that is that I'm now not sure where it came from.

This suggests two possibilities
1: Someone is having a little joke.
2: Someone is attempting to discredit this community.

I think that we're all familiar with similar examples of fakery - the classic but now discredited "Dragon attacking Los Angeles" photo comes to mind - and I think that for our own protection we ought to start keeping tabs on them. I'd suggest posting any others you find as comments to this post, or as new posts. But please use livejournal cuts or links as above, not everyone has (or trusts) a fast internet connection.

You realize of course that your "original" version of the picture is not the true original. It has itself been retouched to remove evidence of someone else who was present in Dallas that day:





Is it just a coincidence that Mayor Wilkins and Bert have never been seen together?

Some of us in this community are seriously concerned about events in Sunnydale. Some of us worry that the evidence we study might be tainted, and do our best to avoid such things. Some of us do not mess around adding bloody Muppets to historically important pictures.

PLEASE try to take this a little more seriously! You're posting a lot of useful comments etc., and little jokes like this could undermine your credibility with the community.

Some people just don't appreciate satire. I mean, does that picture look any more fake than that infamous "Snake" picture, that is supposedly a frame from some parent's video of the 1999 graduation ceremony. (The MiBs of course stole the actual video, but they missed that one frame.) I mean really, who could believe that this picture is real:





It isn't even a good fake. They couldn't even line up the "snake" with the podium properly. You can see that the snake's body is overlapping the top of the podium.

Well, considering that the ceremony took place in the early afternoon in California the dark sky is also a pretty clear indication that it's bogus. One of many attempts to discredit Sunnydale Studies.

The dark sky is actually consistant with some of the reports of the incident. Of course many of these are the same reports that claim that there was a giant snake.

In the sidebar I've added a link to an archive of pictures I'm hoping to set up on one of the busier Sunnydale Studies sites. I'm the only one with posting access, but if anyone wants me to add their pictures to it I'll be happy to do so.
